On September 18, the School of Automation and Electrical Engineering at Zhongyuan University of Technology hosted an invited lecture by Associate Professor Zhang Tianliang. Zhang Tianliang is Associate Dean of the School of Information and Control Engineering at Qingdao University of Technology and a Shandong Taishan Young Scholar. He spoke on "Finite-Time Annular Domain Stability and Stabilization of Linear Discrete-Time Time-Varying Stochastic Systems." Zhang Jifeng, Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of the School, attended alongside faculty and students from relevant schools. Executive Dean Zhu Yongsheng chaired the session.

The lecture examined uniform finite-time annular domain stability and stabilization for linear discrete-time time-varying stochastic systems. To address the conservatism of existing Lyapunov-function methods, Zhang Tianliang introduced a state transition matrix (STM) approach. He established a relationship between the evolution of the system's second moment and the properties of the STM, deriving readily computable stability criteria. Using the Moore–Penrose pseudoinverse and orthogonal decomposition, he also obtained explicit expressions for state-feedback controllers.

Combining advanced research with clear explanations, the lecture offered new perspectives and methods for related studies. Building on this exchange, the School will continue to strengthen research collaboration and support academic development, research innovation, and student education. (Reported by Lin Manman)
