The Henan preliminary round of the third Inovance Cup National Intelligent Automation Innovation Competition recently concluded at Yellow River Vocational and Technical University. Following an initial screening, 122 teams from 24 higher education institutions across the province competed in areas including intelligent manufacturing, motion control, industrial robotics, and machine vision.
Jointly organized by Inovance Technology Co., Ltd. and the Chinese Association of Automation, the competition challenges students to solve practical engineering problems using industrial development platforms. Entries were assessed on solution design, system integration, commissioning, optimization, and teamwork, with teams completing tasks from requirements analysis and hardware assembly to algorithm implementation and testing.
Fu Bangsheng, a faculty member at the School of Automation and Electrical Engineering, was invited to judge the Innovation Development track. He evaluated entries throughout the event and exchanged ideas with organizers, industry experts, and judges from other universities. His involvement provided insights into the competition's technical requirements, assessment criteria, and approaches to project development.
The School uses engineering competitions to complement classroom teaching and develop students' practical skills and creativity. Experience gained from the event will inform preparations for future participation and help students strengthen their systems thinking and ability to solve complex engineering problems.
